Advantages and Disadvantages of Lithium-Ion Batteries with Different Materials
Ternary Lithium Batteries
Advantages: High energy density, high output efficiency, and good low-temperature resistance.
Disadvantages: Poor safety, poor stability, and short service life.
Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Batteries Advantages: Long cycle life, safe to use, fast charging, high-temperature resistance, large capacity, no memory effect, and environmental friendliness. Disadvantages: Poor low-temperature performance, extremely low tap density and compaction density, high material preparation cost and battery manufacturing cost, low battery yield, and poor consistency.
Lithium Manganese Oxide (LMO) Batteries Advantages: High safety, good rate performance, easy preparation, and low cost. Disadvantages: Poor high-temperature performance, short cycle life, and inherent instability of the material itself. For three types of batteries with the same capacity, the order of battery volume from largest to smallest is: Lithium Manganese Oxide > Lithium Iron Phosphate > Ternary Lithium.
